Robert Delaunay Biography and Artwork

Robert Delaunay was a French artist who is known for co-founding the Orphism art movement in the early 20th century. He was born into a prominent family descended from French aristocracy in Paris, France, in 1885. Delaunay was one of the first painters whose works were completely non-representational, and he appointed color as the main and only significant scenic factor.

His later works became more abstract and reminiscent of another famous artist, Paul Klee. Delaunay aimed to convey a sense of dynamism in his work and often chose icons of human progress as motifs.

Overall, Robert Delaunay was an influential figure in the art world who contributed to major movements such as Cubism and Orphism. His unique use of color and imagination helped pave the way for future abstract artists to come.
