Casa Batlló (1905-1907) by Antoni Gaudi

Casa Batlló is known as one of the most innovative works of architect Antoni Gaudí, who designed it exclusively in Modernist style. Although the building was originally erected in 1877, Josep Batlló commissioned Gaudí to remodel and redesign it from 1904-1906. The house is a striking example of Catalan Modernism.

Gaudí had the freedom to apply his unique artistic vision without any constraints, and worked with some of the finest artisans in its construction. He incorporated an equilibrated system into Casa Batlló’s renovation that introduced new balance elements on the facade to make it more visually pleasing.

Internally, Casa Batlló is simply wonderful; every detail is well-crafted and thought-out. Each nook and cranny reflects intricate designs that highlight Gaudi’s creativity with a certain simplicity that makes for an engaging viewing experience.

Overall, Casa Batlló represents a significant turning point in Gaudi’s career where he ventured entirely into modernism style while fusing his remarkable craftsmanship skills with creative nuances. The building remains one of Barcelona’s prized landmarks today.
