Aaron Bohrod was a renowned American artist known for his trompe-l’oeil still-life paintings. He was born on November 21, 1907, in Chicago to Jewish immigrant parents from Bessarabia. Bohrod received his artistic education from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League of New York.
Bohrod earned several Guggenheim fellowships in his career, which enabled him to travel across the United States painting and recording the American scene. He joined the art faculty at the University of Wisconsin while simultaneously serving as an artist-in-residence there until he retired in 1973.
Forum Gallery, founded in NYC in 1961, represented some of Bohrod’s work. Additionally, he became a member of National Academy of Design by being elected in 1953. His oeuvre included realist figures, landscapes, surrealism, and trompe l’oeil painting that showcased his immense talent as an artist.
