“A.C.Q. I” is an installation artwork created by the artist Senga Nengudi between 2016 and 2017. This piece is associated with the Post-Minimalism art movement.
The artwork unfolds within a white-walled space featuring a hardwood floor. Various elements are suspended and mounted on the walls, utilizing an arrangement of brown fabrics and ropes stretched taut between metal or wooden braces. In the corner, an object resembling a gear or mechanical element is contained within a wire mesh, upon which additional materials are draped. Another part of the installation includes an assemblage of rectangular, industrial-looking containers stacked on the floor with elongated elements protruding upwards, once again connected by a composition of ropes and straps. The installation reflects a meticulous interplay of tension and form, exploring themes of balance, materiality, and spatial dynamics.
