Georgia O’Keeffe was an American painter born on 15 November 1887 in Wisconsin, USA. Encouraged by her family from an early age, Georgia received watercolor lessons from Sara Mann, a local artist. Between 1905 and 1908, O’Keeffe attended the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League, studying under John Vanderpoel and William Merritt Chase.

While teaching at Columbia College, O’Keeffe developed her painting style and gained recognition through Alfred Stieglitz. Their collaboration led to a romantic relationship that ended up in marriage and a long-lasting partnership that resulted in many successful exhibitions. Three years after her husband died, O’Keeffe moved to New Mexico, where she lived the rest of her days painting and creating art. She died on 6 March 1986 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
