Hope for Peace (1995) by Arman

The artwork, titled “Hope for Peace,” was created by the artist Arman in 1995. It is a sculpture that belongs to the Nouveau Réalisme art movement.

The sculpture displays a large, monumental structure composed of several military tanks embedded within concrete layers, forming a pyramidal shape. The tanks are partially visible, stacked and seemingly trapped within the concrete. The pointed top of the structure extends upwards with a barrel protruding, adding a dynamic element to the piece. The setting, under a clear blue sky, emphasizes the boldness and starkness of the sculpture. It appears to convey themes of conflict, destruction, and perhaps the aspiration for peace amidst these adversities.
