“Untitled Water Composition (recreated in 2018)” is an installation artwork by Senga Nengudi, originally created between 1969 and 1970 and associated with the Post-Minimalism art movement.
The artwork comprises a number of translucent, water-filled sculptures in varying shapes and colors, predominantly green, yellow, and orange. These sculptures are placed on pedestals of different heights, creating a dynamic display that engages the viewer with their fluid and flexible forms. The simplistic yet striking use of color and form encapsulates the essence of Post-Minimalism, drawing attention to the materiality and the physical presence of the art objects. The overall arrangement within the gallery space allows for both an intimate and expansive viewing experience. The fluidity captured in the sculptures speaks to an organic sensibility, challenging traditional perceptions of sculpture and installation art.
